Genetic analysis is the study of a DNA sample or your genetics. It look at differences (variants), that may increase a person’s risk for disease, how they impact drug responses or how certain foods may affect their health. Over 6000 types of genetic diseases have been identified. These diseases can affect one organ, like the heart or brain, or the whole body. For example, some genetic diseases, like cystic fibrosis, Huntington’s disease, or sickle cell anaemia are due to single gene changes. Others could emerge from a number of genetic changes that can be amplified by environmental factors. Even a very small change in our genetic makeup can have a profound effect on the expression of certain diseases.
